The New England Barracudas Competitive Team is a developmental competitive swimming team for swimmers aged seven to seventeen who would like to be involved with competitive swimming locally and regionally while integrating their participation into a diverse schedule of other activities. Many members of the competitive team are under twelve and understandably are not ready to make a singular commitment to swimming. Older members on the competitive team are not only committed to improving their swimming, they are committed to balancing their participation in swimming with other sports, musical instruments, after-school jobs, school plays, church activities etc.

Meet participation:
Since the New England Barracudas are a competitive swimming team, members are expected to participate in an average of at least one competition per month in the months of November, December, January, February, May and June.

Championship meet participation

All New England Barracudas Competitive Team members are required to participate in all Championship Swimming Meets within New England Swimming for which they qualify in individual events and relays if already participating in that day's individual events. The Short Course Championship season is in February and March and the Long Course Championship season is in July and August. You should plan well in advance to attend these championship meets as there are very few team meets in New England which allow us to show our team strength. New England Swimming Championship meets have qualifying times. If you are not sure which meet is appropriate for your swimmer, ask your coach.
